I love Amsterdam but I just go bananas on a day like this (sorry Willem and Maxima) but it's like way to crowded for me, so I fled to Domburg yesterday evening. A great escape and nice to visit my family again after 10 years (kidding..!!). After my 3 hours trainride (like seriously??) they surprised me with this beautiful cookbook 'Balls & Glory' by Wim Ballieu with all the best meatballs recipes and guess what?! I've got a signed copy! HOLY F*CK! I'm so happy with this book! As you know I'm not a big meat eater, but 9 out of 10 times when I do feel like eating meat I make my own beef meatballs. I just love it you can season your balls with pretty much anything, from fresh herbs to using all sorts of cheeses.. MMMMMmmmm
I'm not a real cookbook kinda person, but I'm sure this beautiful book will definitely inspire me! I mean come on.. the title alone is already fabulous! Who doesn't love Balls ? seriously..haha ;)
I was invited to enjoy a lovely lunch served by the one and only Herman den Blijker (a well known Dutch masterchef), but it wasn't just to enjoy the delish food, they gathered a small group of 10 to listen to the stories behind the charity fund 'Orange Babies'. I think most of you have heard about Orange Babies, or maybe you've seen the beautiful campaign with the pregnant ladies with painted bellies, but what do they exactly do?! Well stop wondering and scroll down to read all about it.
The Orange Babies foundation was established to help pregnant women with HIV and their babies in Africa. Orange Babies also supports children who are infected with the virus or who are otherwise directly affected. Orange Babies helps by offering information programs and medical care and by building orphanages, maternity clinics and shelters for these women and children. A great way to raise money for Orange Babies is to participate with the concept 'Dinner of Hope', you can sign up for the Dinner of Hope through their website, and host your own dinner party. Instead that your guests bring you flowers or wine you ask them to make a nice donation for Orange Babies! A great way to give something back while enjoying great food. I F#CKING LOVE THIS!
WOOHOO!! Since last week Wednesday there's a new Starbucks in town! It's on the Singel 480 (Singel-Koningsplein). It's not like any other Starbucks I've been in. Because they're across the flowermarket they took that as a theme for the interior, LOVE IT! Scroll down for the photo's, so you'll get a better impression of this new coffee bar!
I was here yesterday for the second time and I sat with my friend J. for like 3 hours on the terrace just watching all the diverse people walking by and enjoying our drinks. A great way to spend your Sunday, I can tell you that ;)

So tomorrow a big day for me, I'm doing a 3 day catering gig for 'Unlimited PR', nice thing about this project was that I had to do a lot of styling too! I will bring my professional camera tomorrow and I'll try to post some pictures in between so you can have a quick sneak peak of what I'm serving the guests and to get an impression of my 'look'.
OOOHHH I'm so excited! can't wait to start cooking tomorrow!
wish me luck!
Last Thursday my ex colleagues from the Mondrian Fund invited me out for a belated goodbye party. We had a super nice dinner at 'De Kring'. I will post more about the dishes we had as I'm a bit tired now (a lot of things on my to-do list tomorrow). They surprised me with this super sweet gift card of 50,- Euro s to spend at...'Duikelman'. Oke maybe some of you don't have a clue what I'm talking about. But as you know I'm a big fan of beautiful kitchen appliances, and the 'Duikelman' shop is a Beautiful (with a capital B.) shop with the most outrageous assortment! Dear colleagues from the Mondrian Fund you really didn't had to do this, but thanks so much you did..haha ;)! I didn't find the time yet to go to the store. But believe me, my first day off I will be running to this shop!
As promised.. see here more pictures from yesterdays event at Spice PR. I'm still all energetic and full of adrenaline because of all the great feedback I got. I mean, cooking for friends and family feels way different then when you make food for 75 people you DON'T know. It's very personal.. like a scent. you like it or you just don't. But luckily everybody loved my food, or maybe it's my secret ingredient 'made with a lot of love' ;) oh well enough talking. Scroll down to see all the beautiful images shot by photographer Erik Sawaya check out his website HERE.
