Last weekend I was strolling down the streets of Amsterdam and I bumbed into this little Salad & Shake bar called 'SANE'!..Well I'll be damned! How come I never heard about this place before?! I think the way they present themselve is very appealing don't you think!? I mean..they even rolled out a red carpet! Although I still was feeling stuffed from lunch I decided to have a quick look inside anyways and I couldn't resist to treat myself on a nice freshly squeezed juice! There were a lot of options, but I created my own for 3,50 Euro. My own creation: Apple, Carrot, Ginger en Lemon.... MMMMMMMmmm I love the sweetness of the apples and carrots combined with the sourness of the lemon and a hint of spice of the ginger! Trust me.. this is GOODDD! Scroll down to see more pictures so you'll get a better impression of the interior of 'SANE'! You can find this little place at the Haarlemmerdijk 136 in Amsterdam or click HERE to check out their website first.

I was driving home straight from work and then my lovely friend S. called me if she could chill (or in other words.. EAT..) at my place tonight.. well of course!! But as I was busy prepping for the event tomorrow I totally forgot to do the groceries for myself!! BUT hey..I ain't The Cookteaser for nothing..So NO PROBLEMOOO! Oke..you guys know I'm not a big meat lover.. but I was craving for bacon yesterday (I know.. crazy right?!) so I still had some bacon left in my fridge and some eggplant... I decided to mix all my leftovers together and it turned out GREAT! scroll down for my to die for 'left-over-meal' Ingredients for 2 fabulous looking girls: - 1 eggplant (sliced in rounds) - a bit a goatcheese - some sundried tomatoes ( chopped in pieces) - some crushed walnuts - some mint leaves - some smoked bacon (dutch transl. ontbijt spek will do) * there's no need to use salt, WHY? well because the bacon and goatcheese are salty enough. What to do? Grill the eggplant on both sides until you'll see the black grill 'lines'. Spread the eggplant over a plate. Crumble the goatcheese in tiny bits using your hands and spread them evenly over the eggplant. To bake the bacon crispy you don't need any oil, just wait till the pan is super hot and then bake them until they turn into a nice dark red colour (use some kitchen towel to get rid of the access oil from the bacon). At last add all the left over ingredients over the plate.. and that's really about it! This honey.. ain't no rocketscience eh?! So even when you think you have nothing in your house to make yourself something delish.. improvise! My friend S. LOVED IT.. and so did I.
Enjoy the night! xoxo The Cookteaser How cool is it that fashionbrand 'Supertrash' asked me AGAIN to take care of all the delish bites & treats for their event tomorrow! I just finished doing all the preps .. I will tell you all about the snacks I made tomorrow.. So stay tuned..
xoxo The Cookteaser Most common question I get is probably where do I buy all my Asian products? Well I used to go to Dun Yong a lot at Zeedijk (near central station), but like 4 months ago or so I was so excited to hear that an Asian Supermarket called 'HONG KONG SUPERSTORE' opened it's door few blocks down the road in the Kinkerstraat 298. Another thing I love is that this shop is always open till 18:30, so you can go there relaxed straight from work. The people who work here are super kind and always very helpful, really!! Ask them anything and they have the answer (well.. foodrelated questions eh?!) Check out the pictures I made! Although I love to cook I can be lazy sometimes too! So for a quick Thai curry I buy my organic red curry paste HERE! No chemicals, No artificial colouring.. LOVE IT! Another thing I love is the glutenfree soysauce, emping, banana chips (my addiction), coconutoil, rice noodles.. really just everything! I'm an addict when it comes to using Limeleaves in just about any dish! You can't get them in normal western supermarkets but HERE you can buy a whole package (from the freezer) for just 2 or 3 euro! Great thing about those limeleaves is that you can easily keep them in your freezer for months! Funny thing about this shop is that they also sell things like hair extensions .. I know right?! like What The F#ck.?! haha.. So if you're interested in buying some REAL Asian products try this shop! Maybe we'll run in each other ;)
xoxo The Cookteaser Oke.. you are NOT going to believe this! I was at the liquor store 'Dirck' and then I saw this card hanging on all shelves. For the ones who can't read Dutch.. it says: Unconditional Quality Guarantee NOT GOOD?! YOU GET YOUR MONEY BACK. Even when the bottle is half empty Oke.. is it just me?! Or is this just very tempting eh?! HAHA.. I mean.. I'm a good girl..but COME ON ..you're like literally asking for trouble here! ;)
I thought this is very essential information that needed to be shared with you my dear boozlovers..I mean.. Foodies.. Even when you're not into fashion just hop in to enjoy my food and drinks made with a lot of LOVE! The A-list:
NSMBL Lifestyle Hunters LizzyvdLigt .... I will update the list tomorrow as I'm feeling very sleepy at the moment.. SWEET DREAMS! xoxo The Cookteaser This ain't pasta bitches! NO these are raw zucchini strings I made using my..surprise surprise.. 'Spirooli' !! (call me a Spirooli addict)! I made this beautiful 'pasta' in just 20 minutes of time! I was meeting my friends K., R. and J. and I was the one who would bring dinner (not a big surprise eh..?!). Me and my friends do meet a lot for dinner, so sometimes we eat at my place but it happens a lot that we meet at my friends place, but guess who's the one always standing behind the stove..uhuh.. ME! :D haha but I f#cking LOVE IT !! And they LOVE to eat my food (who doesn't) OHH what a wonderful world I live in! ;) Ingredients for 4 hot looking girls! - 1,5 zucchini's (transl. courgette), raw (use a spirooli or a julien slicer to get them into spaghetti strings) - 1 piece of goatcheese (something like 150 grams or so..) - 150/200 grams of quinoa (boil the quinoa in mushroom stock, I use an organic mushroom stock cube) - 3 hands of spinach, raw - a mixture of mushrooms (you can use only brown mushrooms as well) 1 box will do. - 3 spoons of black truffle paste - 1 spoon of truffle oil - 7 walnuts (crush them using your hands) - 3 tomatoes (slice them in small pieces) - some fresh Thyme - some pepper - and most important a lot of LOVE Instead of cooking your quinoa in just pure water I add the cube of mushroom stock to it so the quinoa will be so much more flavourful! MMMmm..
Meanwhile bake the mushrooms in some truffle-oil and add some fresh thyme to it, season it with some salt and pepper. Mix the zucchini 'pasta' (Dutch transl. courgette) with the rest of all the ingredients. When the mushrooms are ready add this to the dish. Mix this all well. When the quinoa is ready drain the water and add the quinoa also to the 'pasta'. Mix everything well (p.s. I used my leftover quinoa from the day before, so it was cold, but you can add the quinoa straight in the 'pasta', it will cool off soon. At last add the goatcheese, use you hands to spread the bits over the dish and the crushed walnuts. ENJOY! There's really no need for salt in this dish. I let the ingredients speak for themselves. My friends and I went crazy about this dish. I hope you'll love it too! Feel free to leave me a comment. Click HERE if you want to have the f#cking spirooli too! and NO I'm not being paid to talk about the spirooli..I just love this little machine! Spicy grilled tofu with some chinese rice wine blanched Chinese broccoli....MMMmmm THIS people is what I call a super delish dinner! Scroll down for my recipe. Ingredients you'll need to make this FAB DISH: - a handful of chinese broccoli - 6 a 7 sliced of tofu (the half of one tofu block) - a chuck of ginger (size of your tumb, grind it finely) - 1 spoon of sweet chillie sauce - 2 spoons of soy sauce (1 for the tofu and 1 for the vegetables) - 1/2 a spoon of sesameoil - 3 spoons of chinese rice wine - 5 spoons of water * top it off with some sesame seeds and coriander, your dish will look more restaurant worthy ;) What the F#ck is next?
Grill the tofu with some coconut oil (you can use any vegetable oil), meanwhile get an other pan and instead of using oil I filled the pan with a SUPER THIN layer of water (use max. fire continuously), when it starts to boil add the chinese broccoli, when all the water is evaporated add the Chinese rice wine together with the ginger, when this is almost evaporated you may add the soy sauce (1 spoon) and the sesame oil. stirr it all well and you are done! Don't forget to check on your tofu, let both sides grill until goldenbrown. Meanwhile mix the sweet chilli sauce together with a spoon of soy sauce and when the tofu is goldenbrown on both sides drizzle this dressing over the tofu, put the heat on max. for 30 more seconds and you are DONE! ENJOY! I made my own herbal energy-health drink today.. I can tell you..this doesn't taste good unfortunately, but it sure is good for tha body! ...at least that's what they told me. I grew up with an awful herbal drink I had to drink once a month, 'It's for your health and energy flow in your body' my parents always told me...uhuh like VERY FENG SHUI!?! haha anyways.. I hated that drink so much that I cried every time they made me drink it, cause yes people.. it just tasted SO BAD! (can you imagine?!) So who would have thought that I would make it myself one day, now I'm all grown up?! Well.. tadaa I just did :| (my parents must be proud) haha. At Dun Yong (local Asian supermarket) they have a whole medical-herb section, here you'll find all different kinds of boxes like the picture below with different mixes of herbs and roots to get rid of your sore throat, tiredness, migraine and even a herb mix which will help you to loose weight?! maybe that's why all Asians are so skinny eh?! ;) ..It's really worth while checking that out, I'm not so fond of the western-painkillers, so give this a shot! As I'm suffering from a lack of energy lately I thought I brew my own Asian Energy Drink. The label said that this mix was even specially for the ladies!! But HOLY F#CK..Let me tell you..this was again.. SO BAD IN TASTE ! They say it's better to boil the herbs with chickenstock, but I was to lazy to do that, I just used normal water but I regretted it the moment I had my first sip.. seriously..it was truly DISGUSTING..!! But because I know that it's healthy I just pinched my nose and drank 2 glasses of this SH#T (shoulder tab please..). I do believe that this herbal drink is good for me! If you're interested in this super duper disgusting drink you now know where to find it!
xoxo The Cookteaser. It's official.. I'm an addict to this 'not-chicken-but-it sure-does-taste-like-chicken' stuff! I had this wrap once before at an food event of which I forgot the name..but anyways this is SO GOOD! What a great surprise they were at 'Rollende Keukens'. For just 6,50 Euro that lovely kitchen on wheels made my day! :D My friend J. ordered a sandwich melted cheese with minced beef which she LOVED! easy but delish for just 3,50 Euro. Check out the pictures I took with my phone to get a better impression of this super lovely food event 'Rollende Keukens' held in Amsterdam (west). We decided to order one more dish to share, we chose the mussels with fries (7,50 Euro) together along with a glass of wine. I'm already looking forward to next year! And I can't wait for the first Vegetarian Butcher to open at de rozengracht in Amsterdam.
