I love this little fishy called Herring. I know the picture doesn't make it look like it's super tasty but trust me on this one honey, IT F#CKING IS!! I think they have the best Haring at the Utrechtsestraat/Prinsengracht, other than that, I think the staff there is always very nice and friendly and I just love to walk around in that neighbourhood! What I usually do in weekends is walk there starting with a delicious black coffee or dirty chai at the 'Koffie Salon' or 'Two for Joy' at the end of the Utrechtsestraat. Then walk slowly towards the herring-stall and enjoy it while looking over the canals of Amsterdam....OH I just really love Amsterdam..it's sooo beautiful, really this city surprises me every time again.. it's absolutely stunning in every way! Ok I got a little bit distracted.. I was talking about the Herring right?! Well scroll down as the herring is not only tasty but it's also super healthy for tha sexy body lol.. Why you should start eating Herring more often:
Herring is one of the very best food sources of vitamin D. Our bodies make this vitamin in sunlight, but in our climate, it's easy not to get enough. There seems to be more to vitamin D than strong teeth and bones. It's now thought that vitamin D deficiency might be a factor in many diseases, such as multiple sclerosis and diabetes. Herring is loaded with EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). These fatty acids help prevent heart disease and keep the brain functioning properly. They also seem to be effective in reducing inflammatory conditions, such as Crohn's disease and arthritis. Well then.. a new lesson learned have we not?! lol oke have a good day bitches! Try to enjoy the view from where ever you may be... xoxo The Cookteaser

I was suppose to meet up with my lovely friend D. after work for coffee and to catch up, but as I also had to do some shopping downtown I texted D. if we could meet an hour later. But then I thought.. why not do a dinner date instead of a coffee date! As I was texting D. the change of plans I thought of my other friends C. and Y. who I haven't seen in quite a while and invited them over for dinner too! And guess what... they all had no plans for dinner!?! (maybe they did, but cancelled it to eat MY food haha). I mean if you would have known my friends you'd know it's quite unusual that a spontaneous plan like this would work! Everybody is always so busy doing something, so what a pleasant surprise! :D As most of my friends work in the fashion industry I know they prefer healthy food to maintain their stunning looks ;) but they also want to have the 'OH MY GOD WHAT THE F#CK IS THIS' kinda effect when they're eating! Oke.. and here comes my BFFITK (Best Friend Forever In The Kitchen) again.. my SPIROOLI! :D If you don't have a spirooli or if it's sold out you can buy a 'Julienne Slicer' almost in every cook shop. Ingredients you'll need to fill up 4 sexy bitches: 1 zucchini - noodles (if you don't have a Spirooli use a Julienne Slicer or Vegetable Peeler) 1/2 cucumber - noodles (stop staring at my recipes, just get the freakin Spirooli it's so much easier) 1 orange (chopped in medium bits) 1 big fat carrot (grated) 1 smoked mackerel 1 precooked red beet (If you don't have a Spirooli you can use your Cheeseplain instead) a handful of small tasty tomatoes cut in half *some sesameseeds - I just love the way it uplifts your dish :) dressing: 1 lime juice 1 spoon of sesameoil 1 and 1/2 shot of Soysauce ( I used glutenfree soy sauce, but you can use Kikkoman or any Japanese soy sauce brand) So what's next?! Well THIS honey.. ain't no rocketscience!
Mix the zucchini and cucumber noodles together with the orange bits in a big bowl and drizzle the dressing on top, mix this all well and leave it to the side. Meanwhile get a plate and place a layer of the redbeet first, a handful of the grated carrot, the 'noodle' mix and at last some smoked mackerel. You can always add some sesameseeds, just because it looks nicer with ;) My friends LOVED IT! and I LOVE it because THEY LOVED IT.. 1 of my friends wasn't even aware she was eating vegetables, she thought she ate noodles...crazy right?! :| What a great start of the week. Hope you had a great dinner as well! xoxo The Cookteaser. What a beautiful view don't you think!? I had a great day yesterday, my cousin took me out for a nice stroll at the beach! OMG I LOVED IT so much! I mean even the air was so much fresher to breath in, really I felt the difference! They treated me for a super nice lunch at a new restaurant called 'De Visbar', located in the center of Domburg which has just opened his doors one month ago! What we had for lunch at 'De Visbar': * Fruit de mer * Oysters (Zeeuwse creuze and Gillardeau) * Dutch shrimp croquettes with toast After our delicious lunch we walked around Domburg to have a look in different boutiques and small bars and I was pleasantly surprised by the many restaurants and bars who work with organic products or sell unique organic products. Shops like 'Bier en melk salon' (english transl. Beer and Milk Salon) and the 'Mondriaan Winkel' (english transl. Mondriaan Shop) have a beautiful interior, where you can have breakfast, lunch or just a nice cup of tea/coffee. But it's not all about food here, you can also buy beautiful wooden kitchen gear like an amuse spoon made out of a nutshell! Besides all that they've stalled out a beautiful range of delicious products, like super deluxe chocolate bonbons, home-made organic chutneys, Zeeuwse honey, delicious cheeses and even gluten free bread! I'm in LOVE haha! So enough lovely places to go to in Domburg to fullfill your cravings! Check out the photos I took with my phone. I will come back here in summer time to get a nice glowing skin while enjoying delicious food. Who said escaping Amsterdam is boring is NUTS! I will post more later, cause this morning I visited a very nice small fruit stall in the middle of nowhere!
xoxo The Cookteaser. I wasn't really feeling hungry last night and because I wanted to go out for a nice running-session I thought to make myself something light and not so heavy on the body! I bought some nice smoked salmon this weekend, and I was looking through my kitchen cabinets what I could combine with it. Hmmm Quinoa ?! I normally boil my quinoa in mushroom stock instead of water, but I still had some (2 days old) white wine left in the fridge, that's no good anyway for drinking so I finished the white wine half/half with water with some salt and pepper instead! Never done this before.. but I thought let's give this a try, and OMFG this turned out really FANTASTIC! what a successful experiment! I added some mintleaves, dille, tomatoes and a bit of horseradish! really guys.. this is so delish and easy to make!
xoxo The Cookteaser. I bet you've seen this fish in your local supermarket, a bit scary looking maybe but that's probably because you don't know what to do with it...until NOW! Keep on reading and I'm sure next time you'll try my recipe which involves this little fishy-fish! I'm a big fish lover, and I love to eat a nice smoked-mackerel sandwich from time to time, but I find it hard to buy a good mackerel-salad in stores..I'm like done with the mayonnaise with mackerel flavour..No I love to have a decent mackerel salad with REAL Mackerel involved! Besides the great taste of Mackerel, it is known as a very healthy fish and regular consumption is very good for an overall health. It is famous for the heart health benefits it provides and also, known for making the blood clean and fresh. Mackerel is rich in protein and also with some other minerals such as calcium, phosphorous, potassium, selenium and magnesium. Vitamins such as Vitamin A, Vitamin K, Niacin, Vitamin B12, Vitamin C, Choline and Folate can be found in mackerel fish. It’s a good source of Omega-3 fatty acids and some amount of Omega-6 fatty acids. Uhh..enough reason to add some mackerel to your diet eh?! I always like to make my own mackerel salad and it's really made in just 7 minutes ! Great on a sandwich but fabulous on a toast when you have your friends over for a glass (or bottles..) of wine ;) ! I bought my Fair-Trade smoked mackerel at 'Albert' for just 2,50 Euro (wow ain't that cheap?!), with some Yofresh (half yoghurt half mayonnaise), capers and some fresh black pepper you'll have you're own super delish mackerel salad in no time! Do you want to make this too? Check out my RECIPE here! If you don't like the taste of smoked fish, which I can imagine cause it's quite strong, you can also buy fresh mackerel and grill it! Next time I'll show you how to make a nice grilled saba!
