Perks of being a foodblogger is that I’m invited for all different sorts of food events. After finishing my catering gig for Grazia Magazine I rushed myself home to freshen up quickly and got on my bike to ‘Hosokawa’ one of the few REAL Japanese restaurants in Amsterdam cause ‘Lassie’ invited me to enjoy a couple of hours ‘how to make sushi like a pro’. All of this because they just launched their new product: Japanese rice for making sushi easy at home.
I love making Japanese food but I always end up making warm dishes and don’t ask me why.. but it never even crossed my mind to make sushi myself.. Whenever I crave for some sushi I tend to go to ‘Hosokawa’ and when I’m on a budget I tend to go to ‘Japan Inn’…Oke and whenever I think I should spoil myself to the max I go to ‘Yamazato’ (no explanation needed..ohh so gooddddd).
Some of you might have seen the picture above already on my Instagram account, but I think for the first time I’m quite oké right? I thought it would be much harder to make sushi but I even managed to make a ‘Heart shaped sushi roll’.. yeah.. shoulder tap please lmao ;)
Now I know how easy and tasty it can be to make sushi yourself I’m definitely going to do this again! I’m sure that all my lovedones will totally dig the fact that I now also love to make sushi..(their so spoiled by me haha..I just love throwing dinnerparties!). All of this wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for ‘Lassie’ to invite me, so thank you very much for the great event yesterday, I enjoyed it very much!
T to the HANK YOU my dearest 'Friends of the Brands' cause boy oh boy..I was spoiled to the max at yesterdays event!! It was absolute CRAZY!..Crazy in a good way of course ;D grin grin
45 most influential Dutch Bloggers (Food, Lifestyle, Travel and Fashion) wer're invited by 'Friends of the Brands' (former Goodiebaggirl) to enjoy this high end 'Goodybag ride' at Hotel The Grand Amsterdam.
It was so nice to meet all of the other foodbloggers sharing the same interests and having deep deep conversations about which superfood is your favourite and which vegetable is the most stylish.. EWWWWWWW.. Tha F#ck..imagine that?!? Calm down.. I'm just kidding ;D lmao, but really it was super fun to hang out with all of them and enjoy the event together!!
I was introduced to so many cool food brands. Green Granola from Super Foodies was definitely one of them! Oke so the package says that it’s Granola...well..I got a confession to make.. I ate the whole freakin bag as it was my last meal EVER cause they were SO damn tasty :O woops! Haha.
I would rather call them cookies then Granola, I’m not even kidding! Their just great to eat like that and if you’re a coconut-lover like I am, you’re gonna fall over these..Mmmm
Everyone around me knows that I gag with the thought of eating honey :| I’ve tried to eat it so many times but I just can’t bare the taste.. BUT..yes there is a but.. although I don’t like the taste of honey nor the smell of honey nor the thought of honey.. lol, I LOVE this product!! Why?!? Because Manuka Honey has many healing powers which are SUPER DUPER GREAT for us human beings :D! I will post more about this product soon to give you a deeper insight on how I started using these products!
I will post more about unique food products I came across this day in the future, it is really to much to blog about them at once. FYI: I walked out of the Hotel feeling like a luxurious Donkey.. uh whattah? With that I mean I just had so many and HEAVY bags I couldn't move myself. Luckily they were aware of that and arranged me a hell of a nice private driver to bring me and my 'luggage' back home. Yes life can be tough! ;D lmao

I have a confession to make...we've been living together for quite some time now.. I can hold you, touch you, yes.. even lick you whenever I feel like it.. and again.. you amaze me every single time..This my friends.. is the story of how 'Knifey' helped me crack up a fresh coconut! lol :D
You can buy fresh coconuts in just about every Asian Supermarket! They cost around 2,50 euro each. I used to drink these coconuts in Singapore like 4 to 5 times a day :| My mom would always warn me saying 'Eva, you can drink as much coconutwater as you like, just don't eat the white meat every single time..'. (unless you have the ambition to grow into a big mother f#cking giant??! Excuse my language..).. I had to learn it the hard way... urgh lol ;D
First things first...Use a strong solid knife, good quality is a life essential for your kitchen appliances honey! Don't be greedy spending some M to the Oney - MONEY on knifes.. unless you have the ambition to loose a finger 1, 2 or 3.. :O
Chop of the top carefully and use a straw to suck the juice right out of the nut! When you finished all of the delicious juice.. crack this thing up using more power and bang this thing HARRRD with your knife..(yeah girl.. let all of that anger go..haha)
Use a spoon to scoop out of the super sweet and tender 'meat' from this fruit... As you can see.. I'm eating it with much flair & grace.. haha ;D
I finished it all in what I think less then 10 minutes :O ..why so tasty?! WHY?!!
Stores in Amsterdam where you can buy them fresh:

First of all a big big thank you to my dear colleague R. who introduced me to this super tasty flower/herb called 'Daslook'! This morning the following happened:
She walked up to me this morning with a flower in her hand..got on her kneels and..haha KIDDING..imagine HAHA!! No but really..so she walked up to me with a huge smile on her face and a flower in her hand saying..’try eating this Eva! It tastes really good!!’. As I was super curious.. I immediately ate the whole flower! R. was looking at me with this face like.. and?? Well...???What do you think???
Like..Oh My God..Let me tell you..uh WOW! What a surprisingly tasty flavour came out of this small flower!! It tastes a lot like spring onions or chives..but better!! I find the look of this herb so much more appealing for the eyes, their just super cute these small mini flowers don’t you think?!
I think that decorating your food with flowers is a total must.. especially when you live in Holland.. land of the most gorgeous flowers right?!!
Besides the super tasty flavour the ‘Daslook’ gives it's also MEGA MEGA healthy!! I still can’t believe you can get this for free, what a great gift from nature!
Daslook Health benefits:
- Great for your digestion
- Against heart deceises
- Great to give you an extra energy boost
- Good for your immunesystem
So duh..of course, for lunch I made myself an omelette, using some celery-salt (my newest addiction by the way..) some freshly grinded pepper.. and then these spiced up flowers! Check the exact recipe down below..
- 3 eggs (of which I only used 1 eggyolk)
- Some celerysalt
- Some pepper
- Some Daslook :D
Well this ain’t really rocketscience, but I what I did was taking some of the flowers into the omelette mix and I added some later on to sprinkle it on top of the omelette.. MMMM this was such a great tasty lunch!!
TIP: This herb is also great to make your own fresh pesto out of it! I’m definitely going to try this and let you know how it turns out!
R. also told me that now it’s the season for this herb to grow at its best..little secret is.. there seems to be loads and loads of this herb at the Oosterpark. I know for sure what I’m going to do this weekend.. fill myself a bag with these little fellas. I will keep them good in the freezer, this way I can enjoy this herb longer
Hope you can find these flowers too and add them to your dishes! Have a great day!
I absolutely fell in love with this product - Quinoa Puffs!! I came across these last weekend and they just draw my attention.. I mean look at it.. how can you resist a package showing cute round balls in it right?!! If you're a big fan of regular quinoa you're going to love THESE for sure!
I feel like it taste a bit like roasted nuts...which I absolutely LOVE! I'm totally hooked to these puffs and I now start my days with them for breakfast. A bit of (soy) yoghurt, fresh fruit and these balls.. and you are good to go honey!
For those who live in Holland, you can buy these Quinoa Puffs in stores like De Tuinen and Marqt. You might want to check out their website if you're living abroad by clicking HERE. An easy way to find out where you can buy them online and in which stores they sell them in your country! Hail to the internet!! ;D
FIY: I'm not sponsored or anything to write about this product, I would never!
Every Wednesday there's this super cute organic market at the Haarlemmerplein in Amsterdam. I wrote about this market 1 year ago already but I just had to highlight it again cause I came across these little dirty balls...oke..they were not dirty.. but I just felt like saying that lol But really.. they we're intensely tasty!! OMFG..
I think it's a typical Dutch Cookie called 'Cocosmacroon'?! What I think what makes this cookie so damn special is because in these cocosmacronen they didn't use any sugar or grain! So yes... y'all with a Gluten allergy or those on a no-sugar diet..(by the way...I feel with you :|) this cookie is just made for you! I LOVE the taste of cocos, I could eat these cookies or an cocos dish every day!!(pinky swear..) If you don't mind to eat some sugar choose the cocosmacroon with a hint of gingerflavour.. that one is TO DIE FOR! I eventually bought 5 balls for 5,- euro (3 without sugar and 2 with ginger flavour) and I don't know what happened..but I ate them all one to another...WOOPS :O like why am I always like this.. ?!I just don't have the discipline to stop and wait for a while ..pff oh well.. at least I enjoyed them...(in 10 minutes...urgh)
This stall stood out to me.. I mean look at the pictures.. the food looks so stunning! I hope you like my tip and try those (sugarless) balls too! Trust me.. they're worth the try!
Have a great day!
Somehow I've been dealing with awful stomach acid lately.. and I want to get rid of it without taking one of those Rennie tablets or other kind of chemical medicine..
Instead, I went to one of my favourite stores The Super Food Centre in Amsterdam and asked the guy beghind the counter what would be good for me to add to my diet to get rid of my stomach acid the natural way.
He directly pointed his finger to this Gorgeous bottle of Raw - Unfiltered Apple Cider! A spoon a day on an empthy stomach mixed with some water would kill the Acid! I've been drinking this now since the weekend and my nauseous and tummy aches are gone!! After doing some research (this sounds as if I'm a pro..lol) I found out that Apple Cider Vinegar is effective for pretty much anything to maintain your gorgeous looks! Your skin, your hair, your house, and even your pets can benefit from its qualities. Raw, organic unfiltered and unpasteurized, apple cider vinegar is so much more than a salad dressing! I just had to share this with you!
Trust me. You'll be amazed what it's all good for! What are you waiting for.. scroll down!
It can make your hair shine.
Apple cider vinegar can be used as a rinse for your hair after shampooing, and will boost your hair's body and shine. I recommend recycling an old shampoo bottle, then filling it with 1/2 a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and a cup of cold water. Pour the solution through your hair after shampooing several times a week for dramatic results.
Natural apple cider vinegar regulates the pH of your skin.
Dilute ACV with two parts water, and spread the concoction over your face with a cotton ball to replace your current toner. You can do this at night after washing, and in the morning before you apply your moisturizer. A dab of apple cider vinegar can also be left on the skin overnight to fade age spots or acne scars.
It's also a recommended agent for warts. For warts, soak a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar, then fasten the cotton ball over the wart with a Band-Aid overnight. The skin may swell some as it reacts with the solution. However, the wart will fall off. Once it falls off, the treatment should be continued for a few more days, to make sure the wart doesn't return.
It can remove stains from teeth.
Rub teeth directly with apple cider vinegar, and rinse with water.
It can soothe sunburnt skin.
Add a cup of apple cider vinegar to your bath, and soak for 10 minutes to eliminate discomfort from sunburn.
Apple cider vinegar can be used as a natural aftershave.
Fill a bottle with equal parts apple cider vinegar and water, and shake before applying to the face.
Apple cider vinegar can aid in weight loss.
For daily weight management, add 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to 16 ounces of water. This concoction can be sipped throughout the day. Data shows some limited, yet significant, weight loss benefits from sustained daily intake of acetic acid (which is a main ingredient in apple cider vinegar).
In a 2009 study published in Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, it was found that subjects that consumed acetic acid for 12 weeks experienced significant declines in body weight, abdominal fat, waist circumference and triglycerides. Triglycerides contribute to the bad cholesterol that we want to avoid.
Apple cider vinegar will balance your entire inner body system.
The body constantly strives to achieve a state of equilibrium. Apple cider vinegar helps the body maintain a healthy alkaline pH level. Research shows that higher acid levels (lower pH level) leads to a lack of energy and higher incidences of infection. Hence, my desire to sip some a few times a day for a natural boost of energy.
It can help you detox.
As part of balancing the body's pH, apple cider vinegar creates an overall detoxification of the body. Research shows that it can help stimulate cardiovascular circulation and help detoxify the liver.
It can help your body get rid of candida.
This vinegar is rich in natural enzymes that can help rid your body of candida yeasts that are attributed to thrush in humans. Candida also is blamed for creating symptoms of fatigue, poor memory, sugar craving and yeast infections.
SO yeah.. although my stomach acid is gone now.. I will keep on drinking this.. Oh minor detail.. it taste like old milk and looks like dark pee.. haha..so close your eyes and clam your nose..and BAM.. drink it! Make sure you don't eat after drinking it. Wait for at least 20 minutes!
Have a great day!

I just love it when a product looks stunning, when it's functional and when the TASTE is DELISH all at the same time! A while ago I fell in love with these little fellas, the 'Cassis Cardamom' is my absolute favourite! The Cardamom gives your chocolate milk just that extra hint of ..hmm..what shall I say.. deliciousness... HAHa is that even an actual word? oh who cares anyway...you know what I mean right!? As I don't like to drink regular milk I warm up some Almond milk instead and add a hotchocspoon into my big mug and stir it well untill the chocoloate is all absolved. MMmmmm... so tasty! With this delish drink I feel like I can handle the freezing cold weather much better! Warm cosy clothes, a big blanket and a big mug with chocolate milk... gotta love it!
