So this Saturday I was meeting my friend C. for a nice Coffee get-to-gether! We normally always meet at the 'Koffie Salon' or 'Het Vlaamsch Brodhuys' but both spots we're fully packed so we decided to walk over to 'Screaming Beans', We already noticed the place a while ago. But I have to say.. from the outside it doesn't really give you a welcoming feeling, I think it has to do with the dark windows.. anyway..as soon as we entered 'Screaming Beans' it was super crowded and booming inside. WOW! I didn't expect this! Luckily we managed 2 seats at the bar in the back.. and a nice lady came to us straight away explaining us about their coffees, the taste differences, the way they filter the coffee..etc..As I'm always in to try something new I chose the filter coffee with beans from Ethiopia Sidamo.. Sounds exciting eh? As you can see on the picture below.. it was quite a show for a quick coffee break..and because it all looked so marvellous I maybe expected the coffee to be also super super tasty, but I wasn't really excited about it.. I always drink my coffee 'black' / 'americano' and I love a strong coffee taste.. with this filter coffee it was more like I was drinking a strong Earl Grey Tea.. because I was a bit disappointed the waiter offered me a nice espresso from the house.. not filtered..extra strong.. and sure it was strong.. ! Thank you!
Don't get me wrong, I love it that the coffee culture is expanding..it's becoming more like a dessert now with all those different flavours you can choose from and different ways they filter the coffee.. but don't let your eyes fool you by the looks of this stunning coffee filter service.. This just wasn't working for me. I just stick to the normal coffee straight from the machine i guess.. Too bad C. and I already had breakfast.. cause the plates we saw coming by we're deliciously looking. I think we might give it a shot for a brunch next time with a 'normal' coffee ;).
